Composite door FAQs
How much does a composite front door cost?
The price depends on the construction range, door style, colour, glazing, hardware and installation requirements. Sidelights and toplights also affect the total. We provide a quotation after surveying your entrance, with the complete door specification and agreed work clearly identified. Our prices include fitting, removal and the stated warranty. Check VAT treatment, any additional finishing work and exclusions in your written quotation.
What is the difference between a composite door and a uPVC door?
A composite door leaf combines several materials; a uPVC door typically uses a reinforced uPVC frame with a panel or glazing. Both can suit front or rear entrances. Compare the complete doorset’s appearance, construction, locks, thermal performance, upkeep and price when choosing.
What is the difference between DOORCO ORiGINAL, BRiTDOR and GRiPCORE doors?
ORiGINAL uses a foam-filled core with a glass-reinforced plastic outer skin. BRiTDOR uses a solid timber core with a CoolSkin thermoplastic exterior. GRiPCORE combines timber, foam and aluminium with a glass-reinforced plastic skin. Design availability differs between ranges, so compare the exact construction and complete doorset being quoted.
Are composite front doors secure?
A well-specified composite doorset can provide strong security. The door leaf, frame, locks, hinges, glazing and installation all contribute. When comparing quotations, ask which security testing applies to the complete proposed doorset and which lock specification is included.
Can I choose any colour and glass design for a composite door?
Not every combination is available on every door. Your chosen style, construction range and glazing cassette affect compatibility. Shortlist the door reference, colour, glass and hardware you prefer; we confirm the available combination and finish before placing the order.
Can a composite front door have sidelights or a toplight?
Yes, where the opening and selected system allow. Sidelights sit beside the door; a toplight sits above it. We consider the door, frame and additional glazing together, including privacy, proportions and the work required around the opening.
How long does it take to order and fit a composite front door?
A standard composite door has a two-week order lead time. Fitting usually takes two to three hours, depending on the condition of the existing door and the work required. We confirm the specification and installation arrangements before proceeding.
What guarantee comes with a Pristine composite door?
Our composite doors come with a 10-year system warranty, with two-year cover for glass and hardware, including door furniture. Ask for the relevant written terms and exclusions for your chosen doorset, and clarify any separately agreed installation cover before ordering.
How do I choose privacy glass for a front door?
Consider the light you want in the hallway and the view through the entrance from outside. The glass design, size of the glazed panels and any sidelights all affect the result. Compare a physical sample where possible, then confirm the pattern and glazing layout for your selected door before ordering.
Can I change which side my new front door opens from?
We check the hinge side, opening direction and clearance at survey, including the space inside the hallway and around the entrance. Tell us how you would like the door to work before choosing the final configuration. The layout must suit both the opening and the selected doorset.
For a commercial example, read our published Barnet Year 3 window and door renewal case study. It describes composite front-door and uPVC rear-door work for Quinn London and Barnet Homes. The programme is recorded as ongoing; it is not a completed domestic installation.
