Common Questions

Windows FAQs

How much does replacement double glazing cost in Essex?

As a guide, uPVC windows cost £500 – £1,250 per window, depending on the style, size, glass, colour and specification you choose. Our guide prices include fitting, removal and the stated warranty. Check VAT treatment and any additional work in your written quotation before ordering. Use this range to plan your budget, with your final quotation confirmed after survey. Aluminium and timber window prices are subject to survey. Read our uPVC window cost guide for more detail.

Should I choose uPVC, aluminium or timber windows?

Choose uPVC if straightforward upkeep and a versatile choice of styles are your priorities. Aluminium is often chosen for slim frame lines and a contemporary appearance. Timber suits homes where natural materials and traditional detailing matter, with more attention needed to the protective finish. Our window material comparison guide helps you weigh up the options.

Is double or triple glazing better for my home?

Triple glazing can offer better insulation, but the extra pane alone does not tell you how well a window will perform. Compare the complete window’s thermal rating, price and suitability for the opening. Double glazing may meet your needs without the extra cost. Ask us which glazing options are available for your chosen frame system.

Will new windows stop condensation inside my home?

New glazing can reduce condensation on the inside surface by keeping it warmer, but it will not remove moisture produced by cooking, bathing or drying clothes. Ventilation still matters. Condensation trapped between panes is a different problem and can indicate a failed sealed unit. Tell us where the moisture appears so we can discuss the right next step.

Will new double glazing reduce traffic noise?

It can reduce outside noise, but the result depends on the glass, frame, seals, ventilation and installation. If traffic or railway noise is your main concern, tell us before the glazing is selected. A specification chosen for heat insulation alone may not be the best choice for noise reduction.

How long does it take to order and replace windows?

Standard uPVC windows have an order lead time of two weeks. Standard aluminium windows usually take around four weeks, and standard timber windows usually take around six to eight weeks. These are order lead times, separate from the fitting appointment and time on site. The final programme depends on the specification, window count, access and condition of the existing openings.

What warranty comes with new windows?

Our windows come with a 10-year system warranty, with two-year cover for glass and hardware. Keep the written warranty, invoice and any applicable installation certificates together. The warranty conditions, installation cover and documents relevant to your project should be clear before you order.
