Timber windows supplied and fitted in Essex

Timber windows are chosen for their warmth, depth and traditional appearance. They can suit period properties, conservation-led projects and contemporary homes where a natural material is central to the design.

Our Wickford team helps you compare opening style, glazing, ventilation, ironmongery and care. The right specification depends on the building, the exposure of each elevation and the finish you want to maintain over time.

What to consider

A window specification built around your home

01

DESIGNED AROUND YOUR HOME

Proportion, sightlines and opening style all affect the finished result. We consider the character of the property as well as how each room needs to ventilate and function.

02

MODERN COMFORT, PROPERLY ASSESSED

Frame, glazing, seals and installation all contribute to performance. We compare the documented specification rather than relying on a single headline figure.

03

A FINISH YOU CAN MAINTAIN

Factory-applied finishes can help protect the timber, but every product still needs appropriate care. We explain the maintenance guidance supplied for the selected system.

Timber window colours

A finish chosen for the property

Timber windows can be painted or finished in a wide range of colour directions. Exact options vary by selected system and finish, and are confirmed before ordering.

  • Colours considered alongside the building and existing details
  • Coating and maintenance guidance for the selected product
  • Exact finish and availability confirmed before ordering

Details worth settling before you order

Natural detail without guesswork. The shape and depth of a timber window matter alongside its colour. Compare the complete specification and installation work for your property.

Opening style and proportions
Assess sash, casement and other opening styles around the existing proportions, glazing bars and mouldings. Agree the proposed appearance and everyday operation before manufacture.
Timber, colour and care
Compare timber species, coatings, colour choices and the manufacturer’s maintenance instructions. The finish and exposure of each elevation affect the care the windows need over time.
Glazing and ventilation
Select glazing and ventilation details around the room and elevation. Compare the documented performance of the complete window, including the frame, glazing and seals, and confirm the requirements for the proposed installation.
Heritage and approvals
For older or sensitive buildings, check consent requirements before ordering. We can help you prepare a suitable window proposal; the relevant planning or conservation authority remains responsible for any approval.
Installation and handover
Agree survey measurements, reveals, sills, access, fitting, removal and finishing work. Keep the product care instructions and the agreed installation scope with your quotation.
Product warranty
Our product warranty is 10 years, with two-year cover for glass and hardware. Ask for the relevant written terms, care requirements and exclusions, and clarify any separately agreed installation cover.

Common questions

Timber window FAQs

How much do replacement timber windows cost?

Timber window prices are subject to survey, based on the design and work required. Our prices include fitting, removal and the stated warranty. Confirm VAT treatment and any additional work in your written quotation. Matching an existing sash window’s proportions, glazing bars and mouldings can involve different work from fitting a straightforward new casement. Timber, glazing, coatings, hardware and installation details all affect the price. Send photographs of the existing windows so the quotation reflects the details you want to retain.

How long does it take to order timber windows?

Standard timber windows usually have an order lead time of around six to eight weeks. Confirm the lead time for your exact design before ordering, particularly where bespoke detailing or heritage matching is needed. This is the product order lead time; the fitting appointment and time on site are arranged separately.

Can timber windows be as energy efficient as uPVC windows?

Timber windows can provide good insulation when the frame, glazing, seals and installation work together. Compare the documented performance of the complete windows being proposed. A traditional appearance does not mean you have to accept draughts, but the available glazing and detailing may be constrained on a protected building.

How often do timber windows need repainting?

There is no single repainting interval for every timber window. The coating, colour, exposure and condition of the finish all matter. Clean the windows and inspect the coating regularly, dealing with small areas of damage before moisture reaches the timber. Follow the care schedule for the supplied product when planning repainting or repairs.

Can new timber windows match my existing sash windows?

We can assess the existing proportions, opening style, glazing bars, mouldings and colour when preparing a replacement proposal. Pristine’s heritage timber-window project shows our work on bespoke replacement windows. The proposed match, glazing and any approval requirements need to be agreed before manufacture.

Can I replace timber windows in a listed building or conservation area?

Check with your local planning or conservation authority before ordering. Listed buildings and conservation areas have different requirements, and choosing timber does not automatically make a replacement acceptable. The window design, retained historic fabric and glazing can all matter. The Planning Portal’s window guidance explains the checks to make.

Should old timber windows be repaired or replaced?

For historic windows, repair and upgrading should be considered before replacement. Localised damage does not necessarily mean the whole window has reached the end of its life. Where replacement is needed, the new design should respect the building and any consent requirements. Historic England’s guidance explains the case for retaining traditional windows where possible.

What warranty comes with Pristine timber windows?

Our product warranty is 10 years, with two-year cover for glass and hardware. Ask for the relevant written terms for the products in your quotation, including care requirements, exclusions and any separately agreed installation cover.
